Who are these powerful new mages?!
The Forcemaster and the Warlord give focus to two schools of magic not emphasized in the core set: the Mind School, and the War School. The Warlord is also a master of the Earth elemental school. We wanted to pit a frontline fighter (the Forcemaster) against a powerful commander (the Warlord) in this set and challenge players to try out new and interesting strategies. Let's take a deeper look at the mages.
The Warlord is a master of the art of War. Trained in both the War and Earth schools. Strong soldiers bend to his every wish, goblin minions build siege towers and manufacture devastating demolitions, his retinue of legendary warriors follow him wherever he goes. The Warlord was raised on the battlefield, it is his home, and all who meet him there will surely know it.
The Warlord is first and foremost a commander of troops. He summons humanoid soldiers to do his bidding, and then calls upon the power of Akiro, God of War, to give his troops favor in battle.
The Warlord is an imposing and intimidating character that commands immediate respect. He is easily recognizable from a distance as the formidable leader of his troops, someone to be feared and give his enemies pause. He is a master of equipment, wearing heavy armor, and carrying a variety of weapons and magical battle devices.
Despite his formidable appearance, he is more of a commander than a front line fighter. He is not bashful about joining the fray as needed, but he is most likely to be found commanding his troops to charge, or directing a particularly clever strike.
The Warlord augments his forces with his control over Earth magic- causing massive earthquakes and sandstorms, hurling boulders to crush his foes, and summoning giant Earth Elementals.
The Forcemaster is a master of telekinetic force and mind magic. With her keen intellect and supreme control over telekinesis she can manipulate the world around her. She is more of a lone warrior, but her powers more than make up for her lack of creature support.
Forcemasters will wear light armor at best, choosing fluid movement and agility over protection, and relying on their forcefield and deflection powers for defense. She can erect walls of sheer force, push enemies aside with a glance, hold and crush them with invisible force, and even penetrate her foes' minds to control their every move. All battles are won in the mind first, and the Forcemaster has the greatest mind of all.
This expansion includes lots of great new spells, including new ones for the original 4 mages. Play with either of these mages, or combine their spells with those from the Core Set to create a customized mage of your own!
